- parity bit

CORRECT ANSWER : both b and d

Discussion Board
Explanation-

A parity bit, or check bit, is a bit added to a string of binary code to ensure that the total number of 1-bits in the string is even or odd. Parity bits are used as the simplest form of error detecting code.
A checksum is an error-detection method in a the transmitter computes a numerical value according to the number of set or unset bits in a message and sends it along with each message frame.

Dipan Computers -GN

Check sum bit
Parity bit

Both are the way of checking the error correction in the message / packet data.

So both are correct.

Wrong Answer

It is not right to say that only parity bit is added for error detection. There are several ways by which error is detected in any packet and as a matter of fact adding checksum bit is more widely used. So in my opinion, checksum bit should be more correct answer.

Not fully correct Answer "parity bit"

A parity bit, or check bit is a bit added to the end of a string of binary code that indicates whether the number of bits in the string with the value one is even or odd. Parity bits are used as the simplest form of error detecting code.
