Zinc and copper are melted together in the ratio 9:11. What is the weight of melted mixture, if 27.9 kg of zinc has been consumed in it?
Options
- 61 kg
- 62kg
- 63 kg
- 64kg
CORRECT ANSWER : 62kg
Discussion Board
Solve the problem
Zinc:Copper =9:11
Given zinc =27.9 kg
9 part=27.9 kg
1 part =27.9/9=3.1 kg
Both zinc and copper =9+11=20
Melted mixure means zinc and copper together weight =20×3.1=62 kg

Solution :
Lets consider ,given is ratio, convert it to number
We use k with it
9k=27.9kg(given)
k=3.1
To find value of copper =11*3.1= 34.1kg
Add both weights(mixture)= 62
Simple

Solution
zinc : copper is 9:11
amount of zinc = (9/9+11)* total amount of melted mixture
cross multiply and you get,
total amount of melted mixture = (20/9)* amount of zinc which is 27.9
total = 3.1*20
=62kgs
Neeraja 04-13-2020 08:01 AM
Solution
9:11
Weight of zinc =27.9
9/11 =27.9/copper
Copper= (27.9*11)/9 =34.1
Total mixture = 34.1 +27.9 =62
Ragi k r 05-13-2019 10:17 AM
solution
or 9 kg zinc, mixture melted = (9 + 11) kg.
For 27.9 kg zinc has consumed,
mixture melted = (20/9*27.9)
kg = 62 kg.
