• The NE Festival was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India
• Contingents for this festival were from 8 NE states
• Around 2100 youth delegates participated in the 3 day festival

Objectives of this festival were as follows:
• Foster National Integrity
• To know each other better through exchange of culture
• Promotion of rich cultural heritage of various tribes and people of NE States
• Celebration where the rich cultural traditions and colours of the NE region were showcased.

• 1st North East Youth Festival was at Kohima, Nagaland from 8 to 10 October, 2009,
• 2nd North East Youth Festival was held at Shillong, Meghalaya from 7 to 9 April, 2011
• 3rd North East Youth Festival was held at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh from 7 to 9 November, 2012.
