I am a student of XI Science with subject combinations of Physics, Chemistry and Biology along with English and Environment Science. I want to do Genetic Engineering. Please guide me with the courses and the admission basis for them. What are the job opportunities for genetic engineers in India?
In genetic engineering there are various courses offered in India in levels of under graduation and post graduation. You can apply for Bachelor of Engineering in Genetic Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Genetic Engineering. You also have the option for Bachelor of Science in life sciences with genetics as optional subjects. For these courses you need to be XII pass in science stream from recognized board examination. Most colleges in India will offer admission on the basis of marks obtained in Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE). After a bachelor’s degree, you can go for Master of Engineering in Genetic Engineering or Master of Technology in Genetic Engineering.
For these post graduation genetic engineering courses you need to be B.E / B.Tech in genetic engineering from recognized University along with a valid GATE score.
