As a Sommelier what would my duties and responsibilities be?
-You should be in touch with the latest trends in both the food and beverages industry.
-You should have the adequate knowledge regarding the different types of wines.
-You should be able to help the customers choose the right wine with their meal.
-You should be able to plan the menu for wines.
-You should be able to work with the chef for food and wine pairing.
-Pouring wines, especially red wines which are more than 10 years old.
-Choosing and ordering wines which is the best fit for the menu.
-Knowing the various ways to store wines.
-Manage the stock of wines.
-Educating patrons on the best ways to enjoy their wine.
-Hosting and also attend wine tasting events.
-Describe the taste and aroma of different wines.
-Suggesting drinks which may complement one’s meal.
-Selecting the house wine.
-Maintaining relationships with distributors and vintners.
-Creating a diverse menu of wines at different price points.
