Can the return of Narayan Murthy revive Infosys?

Narayan Murthy has made a comeback as executive chairman in Infosys. Is it a wise move? Will it make a huge difference with Narayan Murthy coming into the picture?

For:

- With Narayan Murthy’s outstanding leadership abilities and he being the founder of Infosys, he could revive Infosys
- Because of the experience that they hold along with the time spent in the company, the stakeholder and the investors have faith in them
- Globally, en number of companies like Apple, Google, and Dell has had their CEO’s make a successful comeback and has also revived the company be it in terms of finances or in-terms of its policies and reputation. The leadership of the individual is all that matters
- Murthy’s knowledge in guiding newly established companies will act as an added advantage to Infosys

Against:

- The IT industry keeps changing every 5 year or so and with Murthy’s comeback at the age of 60 will not make that much of a difference to Infosys
- It’s not necessary every CEO that makes a comeback is successful in his venture
- With the changing trend in the commercial sector, it is not necessary that Murthy will be able to perform as effectively as he use to do previously
- With the changing trend, Infosys should focus on hiring new CEO which belong to the latest generation rather than bringing in the old ones.

Conclusion:

- With the changing trend, we should also change our methods of leadership that is the hour of the need. It is not a wise move by bringing Murthy back into Infosys, rather they should have brought in somebody who is young and holds a good experience to revive Infosys.
