I am interested in sales and advertising and would like to do retail management after completing B.Com. What is the job prospect of this field? Please guide me with a career path for a brighter career in retail management. I am in the final year of B.Com with honors in accounts.
The highly growing and developing trend of supermarkets, malls, and hypermarkets in India in the past 10 years calls for a better and brighter job prospects for students of retail management. Advertising and sale strategies are being improvised and all these are what you will specialize in after a course of retail management. This field has, no doubt, to offer one of the most in-demand career prospects. Given that you are interested in advertising and sales management, this course should provide and edge to your talent and skills of luring customers.
You will need to clear the CAT (Common Aptitude Test) for getting into esteemed colleges such as the IIMs or clear GMAT (General Management Aptitude Test) to get admitted to foreign universities for pursuing MBA in retail management. Job option also varies according to your specialization and degree. While the big players in the field would need you to have an MBA, the smaller ones would take graduates too. After an MBA, you can be a part of business research, market research, and pricing and strategising perspective. You can begin as a sales executive or sales manager as well.
