CAT 2014 – Major changes announced in exam format.
IIM – Indore, the one to organise CAT in 2014 has announced the dates of the examination and some major changes in the format of the examination.
The examination will be held on 16th and 22nd November 2014 at 354 centres across 99 cities.
The major changes introduced in the pattern of the examination are –
i.)Test will now last for 170 minutes – The exam which used to last for 140 minutes (2 hrs 20 minutes) till last year will last for 2 hr 50 minutes this year.
ii.)Number of questions increased – Number of questions in QA and DI, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning have been increased from 30 to 50.
iii.)Switching between the sections will be possible – In CAT 2014, candidates will be allowed to switch among the various sections. This facility will enable them to use their time on each section, as they would like to.
iv.)No tutorial this time - Till last year the candidates used to see a tutorial before the beginning of the exam. It won’t be made available this time. The candidates are advised to see this before coming to the test.
v.)Only online payment of fees – Candidates will be able to pay the exam fee online only. No offline mode of payment will be available. The payment can be made online through credit card, debit card or net banking.
vi.)No window period – Rather than a window period for the test to be held, the test will be held only on two announced dates this year.
vii.)Increase in number of test centres – The test will be conducted at 354 locations spread across 99 cities unlike 45 test sites last year. The candidates can choose 3 cities in the order of preference. As per the availability, they will be allotted the city of their choice and exam slot.
Online Registration for CAT 2014 will begin from 6th August 2014 and last till 30th September 2014.
