You must have seen effects such as bomb blasts, natural disasters, flying objects, grand actions, etc. They are not real but customized visual effects created through VFX. So, VFX is nothing but the visual effects that you see everyday in the films.

Indian VFX and Animation industry is growing at a very fast rate. It, therefore, needs skilled and talented professionals.

Here are some short term courses for VFX:

1. SMOKEPro- Smoke effect is most popular for online video editing and finishing that are used in post-production for movies and TV programs. Several institutes offer a specialized course in Smoke. This is an approximately two months' course. MAAC and ARENA are the famous institutes offering this course.

2.Digital Film Making (DFM) – This course focuses on different ideas of film making. You get the knowledge of different software that are used in the industry such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Soundbooth, Adobe Premiere, and many more. This course takes approximately six months. MAAC and ARENA offer this course.

3.Compositing and Editing - This is a course offered by the MAAC and the ARENA that focuses on the post-production processes including compositing and editing. You get an idea of the techniques such as compositing, match-moving, matte painting and editing as well as knowledge of the software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Eye on Fusion and Apple Final Cut Pro. This course takes approximately six and a half months.

4.NUKE, MOCHA, SILHOUETTE - There are some movies like Inception, Avatar, Eclipse, Alice in Wonderland, 2012, 127 Hours, etc. that have used Nuke effect. You can enhance your editing skills by doing short term courses for these software, Nuke, Mocha and Silhouette. It covers the entire process of high-end VFX compositing and stereoscopic pipeline. It is an approximately 2 months' course.

5.Modular courses - There are some modular courses for students and professionals who want to enhance their skills in specific areas of animation and visual effects. You can pick one or more software of your choice and complete the course in a very short span of time. The duration of the course depends on how many software you want to learn.
