Courses, institutes to study Wildlife Photography and job prospects
I am a student of BA in geography. Photography has been my passion ever since high school and I have developed my photography skills over the year as a photographer with work experience in a local newspaper. I want to make a career in wildlife photography as I believe it would be an incorporation of my interest in photography and nature. Please guide me with the courses that I can pursue along with the job prospect in this field.
For being a wildlife photographer, you need not do a special course or secure a degree in photography. Skill sets are important and your passion towards photography along with love for nature and wildlife will take you where you should be. However, to achieve specialization, you can pursue any level programs in photography or pursue a Bachelor’s degree course in photojournalism. Many reputed institutes offer part-time as well as full-time Degree, or Diploma, or even Certificate courses.
A career in wildlife photography can be rewarding in India as well as abroad. Social media has become the platform where you can show your works and gain links for a better job. Employers will need to see your work and the best way to do that is to create a website where you can showcase your works of photography will the local animals. What shall matter is your skill so concentrate on gaining the right tactics and techniques along with the skills that they ask for. Apart from working as freelancer or with a private organization, you will have the option to consider working for various publications like newspapers and nature or travel and tourism magazines, wildlife NGOs etc. Other options include joining a wildlife channel like national geography and discovery. You can also work as a photojournalist. Art galleries around the world would also want to buy your work if they find it interesting or might even offer you a contract based job.
