Saraswati Samman 2013
Govind Mishra is the recipient of Saraswati Samman 2013 for his book “Dhool Paudhon Par” and has become the second Hindi writer after Harivansh Bacchan to receive the honour. The award was established in 1991 by K. K. Birla Foundation and carries a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees along with a certificate. It is given for outstanding literary work in the languages listed in schedule 7 of Indian constitution.
New revenue secretary
Rajiv Takru, a 1979 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Revenue Secretary and will succeed Sumit Bose, whose retirement is due this month. GS Sandhu will replace Rajiv Takru in the Financial Services Department as secretary.
Bank of India launches Instant Money Transfer facility
Bank of India has launched the IMT facility under which any person can withdraw cash or send money to other person by his mobile number from BoI’s ATM without the use of debit or credit card. Also, the bank launched an all women debit card “Sangini” to commemorate International Women’s day.
Pritzker Prize 2014
Shigery Ban, a Japanese architect has the won the Pritzker Architecture Prize 2014 for his contribution in housing disaster victims in Japan. Oritzker Prize is the highest award in the field of architecture and also considerd as the Nobel Prize in this field. The prize is instituted by Hyatt Foundation and carries a grant of $100,000 alongwith a bronze medal.
Yesteryear actress Nanda passed away
The bollywoods’ one of the most innocent and stunning actress Nanda passed away on 25th March at the age of 75. She entered bollywood at a very young age and continued to do films for a very long time. She was married to Manmohan Desai.
