Bailey’s women prize for fiction
Indian American author Jhumpa Lahiri has been shortlisted for the Bailey’s women prize for fiction for her novel “The Lowland”. Besides, 5 other novelists have been also been selected-
- Donna Tart for The Goldfinch,
- Eimear McBride for A Girl is Half Formed Thing,
- Audrey Magee for The Undertaking,
- Hannah Kent for The Burial rites and
- Chimamanda Ngozi for Americanah.
Arunachal Pradesh gets rail connectivity
Arunachal capital 'Itanagar' gets the rail connectivity with the introduction of a passenger train linking the town of Dekargaon to the capital city. The state will soon have a rail connectivity with prime cities of India.
Holcim to acquire Lafarge
Swiss cement firm Holcim has acquired world’s largest cement manufacturer from France- Lafarge. The new firm will be known as LafargeHolcim based in Switzerland.
Growth projection by IMF
IMF predicted that global economy will grow at a rate of 3.6% in 2014 and 3.9% in 2015. It has also projected that UK will be the fastest growing economy among G-7 countries.
