Deduction – It is a (in mathematical terms) subtraction or removal of a part from a whole.

For e.g.:

1. The loan amount will be deducted from Ram’s monthly salary.

2. I had paid extra to the vegetable vendor as he did not have change; I will deduct that amount from his next bill.

Deduction – In terms of logic and reason, deduction means to assume, surmise, or come to a conclusion, based on the available facts. This terminology (to deduce) is used in the context of a mystery to solve a crime, where a detective or a legal representative has to find a solution by using the clues at the scene.

For e.g.:

1. Your deduction in the case of the missing necklace was correct; it was the neighbour who had stolen it.

2. The police will have to deduce the culprit from the fingerprints found at the crime scene.

Introduction – To bring in something new, to begin something for the first time

For e.g.:

1. Before you begin the speech, you have to give the audience a brief introduction of the chief guest.

2. Pooja gave Sheeba a written introduction to the bank, so that Sheeba could open an account with that bank.
