Dependent – It is an adjective (UK English), which indicates a person or a non-living thing, which is supported by or occurs because of someone or something else.

For e.g.:

Dependant – It is a noun (UK English), which means a person who depends/relies upon another person for financial support or subsistence.

For e.g.:

1. The employee’s dependants include his or her unemployed spouse, unemployed or retired parents, and children under the age of eighteen.

2. I have three dependants, my wife and two children.
