Dessert vs Desert
Dessert – It is a sweet dish eaten at the end of a meal.
For e.g.:1. Yesterday, we had Gulab jamun for dessert.
2. Manju aunty always serves cakes for dessert.
Desert – It can be used both as a verb and a noun. Both usages have different meanings. Both are explained below.
As a verb
Desert – to abandon or leave one thing (or person) in favour of another
For e.g.:1. Karthik deserted Venu when the latter got into trouble with the law.
2. The construction worker’s wife deserted him due to his chronic alcoholism and physical abuse.
As a noun
Desert – a barren stretch of land with no water or rain and limited vegetation
For e.g.:1. The Sahara desert in Africa is the largest non-polar desert in the world.
2. I am planning to go on a trip to the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.
