Die – It can be used both as a verb and a noun. Both usages have different meanings. Both are explained below.

As a verb

Die – to stop living, to end life in a particular condition, or to suffer a specified kind of death

For e.g.:

1. Mahatma Gandhi died in 1948 at the age of 78.

2. The fish in this river began dying suddenly because of the toxic waste mixing in the water.

As a noun

Die – singular form of dice

For e.g.:

1. My friend used only a single die to win a game of Poker.

2. I won this car in a game of dice.

Die – a tool that is used to cut, shape, or stamp a material or an object

For e.g.:

1. Automobile parts are cut into shape by using metal dies.

2. All jewellery making factories use the die stamping technique.

Dye – It is used both as a noun and as a verb.

As a noun

Dye - It refers to a natural or synthetic substance used to add colour to or change the colour of something.

For e.g.:

1. My father always prefers natural dyes because they are less toxic than synthetic dyes.

2. The latest trend in the fashion industry is to apply blonde hair dye.

As a verb

Dye - It is used to indicate adding a colour to something or changing the colour of something by soaking it in a dye solution.

For e.g.:

1. Osama Bin Laden had dyed his hair black to conceal his identity.

2. My school Principal has been dyeing his hair black for years to look young and energetic.
