Does the course and degree make a difference in the job propspects of a Civil Engineer?
I am a student of XII science with PCM and aspire to become a civil engineer. What are the various course options that I can consider to become a civil engineer? I have heard that there are diploma programs too and they are equally good and in demand just like the normal graduation programs in civil engineering. Does it make a difference in courses and job prospects according to the program we go for to become a civil engineer? I believe I am creative and hard working enough to make a good civil engineer in future.

It is really important to believe in yourself and to understand what you want in life. Now that you are sure about your career and future aspirations, you must begin your preparations instantly. Work harder in maths, physics and chemistry and stand out in these subjects. The graduation and post graduation in civil engineering is the method you should be following since this is what will land you a good job in future.

The diploma method is a three year program for those wanting to start right after Class 10. You are doing well in 12th so you must follow the right procedure. What really matters is a good university/college from where you will be pursuing your engineering program. Civil engineers are highly in demand in both public and government sector and the placement greatly depend upon the institute from where you hail your degree. Work hard and get into a good engineering college keeping aside all shortcuts for the time being. Good luck!
