Dominant – It can be used as an adjective and as a noun. Both meanings are given below.

As an adjective

Dominant – to have greater power, influence, or voice

For e.g.:

As a noun

Dominant – In genetic studies, a dominant gene is one in a pair of alleles (branches or parts of a single gene) that is stronger than the other.

Dominate – It is the verb form of the word dominant. It means the act of dominating, or having supremacy over another.
