Don't limit the election expenses
Don't limit the election expenses - make the system transparent rather
Gopinath Munde, BJP’s leader is recently in news for spending 8 Crore on his parliamentary election campaign held in 2009. He has been in trouble since then for such a high expenditure just on the campaigns. Is it right to spend so much just on a campaign?
For:
- Restraining the election expenditures leads to the invasion of black money and corruption in our political structure. Hence instead of confining the expenses we should encourage more on a transparent political system altogether
- Only audited and unveiled donations should be permitted in the campaigns
- A expense perimeter should be set, above which any donations that are received should be the declared and audited amount only, and if any unidentified amount is acknowledged, then they should be levied with stringent penalty as well as reprimand
- If the above mentioned measures are put to action, it could condense the source of black-money to a great extent
Against:
- If the election expenses are amplified, it would mean that a candidate who has money will be able to win the elections but not a deserving candidate as he will not be having that kind of money with him to invest in the elections
- Democracy is all about management, that is any deserving individual should be given a chance rather than people who have a funding support with them
- The outcome of the expenditure restraints pulls down the quality of the candidates, increases corruption and offensiveness.
Conclusion:
- It’s a fact that by increasing the funds will just ruin the quality of politicians in our country all the more; rather our concentration should be more on making our system transparent.
