DOT
In a very basic sense, the dot is perhaps the most used punctuation mark. A full stop symbolized by a dot symbolizes a break in thought. It is used to notify a logical end to a complete thought. It is used to creature and structure ones writing. It helps organize ones thoughts so that one is able to synchronize different thoughts to weave the idea to be stated.
A dot is a beginning of a circle- which is a shape in Euclidean geometry. It is a set of points in a plane which are all uni-distant from the centre. It is a smaller version of a big circle.
Perhaps a dot which is a small circle is more meaningful. “Circle of Life" is a song from Disney's 1994 animated film The Lion King. Elton John says,” It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all, through despair and hope, through faith and love, Till we find our place, on the path unwinding, In the Circle.” The circle draws a similarity to life itself- If we look around we will find that from a seed a tree is born and later on turn to a seed only. Same way for a life also once born, it grows, flourishes and eventually perishes or dies. A circle of life completes.
For example during the course of time a flower in bloom withers, man grows old to stare at his old age, birds as do children go back to their nests and homes respectively in the evening and rain initiated from sea but ultimately flows back to sea. Change is inevitable and the process goes on.
In a mystic sense, a dot is also called “The Bindu”- in the Hindu tradition. It is the place between the eyebrows where women put a vermillion dot, which stands for the inner third eye.
What does a dot symbolize to me- the beginning or an end? I think it has neither beginning nor an end. It is a deep meaning enigma or one of the biggest puzzles of life to which there is no answer. The quest to this answer continues.
