I am a BA English honours student in the final year. I also possess a work experience of 2 years of article writing for a magazine. I have been advised to go for post-graduate diploma course in Communication for Development. What is this course all about and how will be beneficial for me? Xavier’s Institute of Communication, Mumbai offers post-graduate diploma course in Communication for Development and this course is the first of its kind in India. In association with UNICEF, XIC has developed a curriculum framework for C4D Course in India. It includes theory on approaches to development in India, poverty discourse, etc. It also includes Research, which is the first step in design of the C4D strategy, skill sets such as journalistic writing, public service advertising, film-making and screen writing for television. As a C4D professional, you will get advantage working in advertising agencies, media houses which require journalistic and TV skills and which have government or development related clients. Special areas of opportunities are non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives of companies.
