Eligibility, course details and institutes to study MSc in sensor and imaging systems from UK.

I am a B.E Computer Science student in final year. I want to go for MSc course in sensor and imaging systems in UK. Please provide course details along with fees structures. Do the colleges offer scholarships? What are the eligibility criteria?

The University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom have in cooperation launched a one-year MSc course in sensor and imaging systems. The program is divided into two semesters - the first semester is to focus on understanding the fundamentals of sensor and imaging systems, and the second on providing training in more specialist aspects. There are four core courses - fundamentals of sensing and imaging, imaging and detectors, detection and analysis or ionising radiation, and circuits and systems. In addition, there are 11 optional courses available which include waves and diffraction, biosensors and instrumentation, entrepreneurship, etc. The program will be customized to a student’s definite experience, proficiency, research interests, and the nature of his or her extended research project topic. This is a new and unique program for students of Computer Science with various benefits of its own.

The program has been intended for people looking to extend skills that will unlock prospects in diverse end applications, thus removing the differences between academic research and industrial application. The institute claim that the MSc programme will benefit from integration with the Innovation Centre for Sensor & Imaging Systems (CENSIS) that will provide students with prospects to work in companies or at the universities on industry-related research along with the benefit is additional alignment with a large body of PhD students at the centre for doctoral training in sensing and measurement. The cost for international students is around £17,250. Scholarships are offered by the Scottish Funding Council on a competitive basis that covers the tuition fees.

Eligibility criteria:

• Qualified with a degree in physical sciences, electrical engineering or a related subject.

• Candidates with a degree in computer, chemical, biological or medical sciences, or maths, with a demonstrated aptitude for science and technology relevant to sensing and imaging.

• Applicants whose first language is not English must fulfil the English language requirements.
