What are the eligibility criteria of entering into the course of dairy technology?
Dairy technology is a structured and organized course wherein the aspirant can enter at various levels like diploma, graduation, post graduation and doctoral ones. For entering into the diploma and graduation courses the aspirant should have cleared higher secondary exams with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. In most of the colleges the minimum passing percentage required is 50%. Degree courses can generally be searched as B.Tech / B.Sc. in Dairy Technology or Dairy Science, which is of 4 years duration and Diploma courses can be availed as Indian Dairy Diploma (IDD) and National Dairy Diploma (NDD), which is of two years duration.
After attaining the bachelor’s degree the aspirant can opt for 2 years post graduation course, either of M.Tech. in Dairy technology or M.Sc. in Dairy Science.
What are the subjects offered in the Dairy Technology course?
As dairy technology comprises of study of various subject areas, the aspirants can specialize in any of the subject studied and can purse the same as their career. Some of the subjects include market milk, traditional Indian Dairy Products, Food and Dairy Engineering, Materials and Design of Dairy Equipments, different types of dairy products (like cheese, fermented, fat rich etc). With these subjects, the aspirants in this course can chose any of the specialization area as Dairy Economics, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Engineering, Dairy Cattle Breeding and nutrition or Dairy Microbiology.
