Eligibility to pursue a course in Biotechnology
What is the eligibility criteria for this field?
• You must have a strong background in Physics, Chemistry and Biology to do a B.Tech course.
• Some universities also offer a B.Sc biotechnology which you can join after your class 12.
• Graduates in all sciences are eligible for a PG in biotechnology(M.Sc)
• P.G courses available to students are:
- M.Sc. Biotechnology,
- M.Sc. (Agriculture) Biotechnology,
- M.Sc. (Animal) Biotechnology,
- M.Tech Biotechnology, M.Sc./M.V.Sc.in Veterinary Biotechnology,
- M.Sc.(Marine) Biotechnology,
- Medical Biotechnology,
- M.Tech.in Biomedical Engineering/Biotechnology
• You can also opt for more advanced courses such PH.D and Post-Doctoral Research in Biotechnology.
• M.Tech programme at IIT Delhi and Kharagpur can be done through a JEE examination.
• For B.Tech courses a student is selected on a merit basis.
• Entrance to IIT’S is through a JEE and for other colleges they have their respective examinations.
