English should be considered as India's official language
Introduction
India is a land with diversified cultures and traditions. There are around 22 languages spoken in different parts of India. Hindi is India's national language. But we find prominent usage of English in documents, newspapers etc. Most of the parents want their children to learn or study in this language. This language was what the British had got to India during their reign.
Speaker 1
English cannot be considered as India's official language as big chunk of poor population is uneducated and even if they are educated they learn and study in the local language. English or convent schools are not affordable for the lower class people. We belong to a free nation which has its own cultural background and still we advocate the use of foreign languages for various political reasons. So, I think that English should not be given the status of India's Official Language.

I agree to the points put forth by Speaker 1 but we need to be practical. Today wherever we go, we need to have a good command over English. A lot of countries have been investing in India and they do not know our languages so we need to know their language in order to communicate with them. Knowing English is not harmful and can be added as an extra language to the languages that we know. We need to be broad minded and adopt English as our official language. We cannot be sentimental towards all the languages and as most of the population knows this language we should adopt English as our official language.

Agreeing to the fact that all the Government official work takes place in English, even a lot of MP's can’t read or write it as they are not educated in English Medium. We should not be shameful of our Hindi language. One of the best example was set by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. In recent pass he delivered a speech in Hindi in the UN conference. When the person who is representing our country is not ashamed of our national language then why should we be ashamed of our language? We are not a European country, we should be proud of our languages, traditions and culture. We should develop our languages to enslave from English.

Can all my friends sitting here tell me that if not for English, which language would they like to be considered as India's official language? Keeping in mind that some of the population is still working on Hindi we cannot burden them with another language. If we go to the South region people there have been opposing of learning Hindi due to which they are unable to even talk in this language. If we go to the rural areas people prefer communicating in the local language. Hindi is widely used in the Northern part of India. Hindi is the only language that most of the people can communicate in. Looking at a wider part of India communicating in Hindi, this seems to be the best language deserving official status.

We cannot stay narrow minded in the 21st century. We have adopted lot of western culture why can't we adopt English as our official language? Hindi is bound to be opposed if we force it upon the non- Hindi speakers as they feel they have to suffer a lot of disadvantages for their backwardness in Hindi. We cannot force this language on anyone. It will be sheer narrow thinking to discontinue with English on an emotional ground and jeopardies the unity of the country. I do not see any harm in continuing with English as an official language.
Conclusion
English should not be considered as India's official language. Being in our country we should respect our languages and culture. We cannot expect the whole population to learn English just because of a few people. Hindi is a language that represents India and if we do not know our language then we should be ashamed of it. Still there are a few regions in our country which do not know this language. However, till these regions don't understand Hindi language; the government has no option but to have English as its official language.

- in my opinion it should be considered as India's official language because now we use English in every field in job sector also if we want a good job then we have to know English very well .so it is governments duty to implement English education in the lower level also so that that people can also learn it and our India is growing day by day so we should implement new ideas without changing our culture

- very basic question to all who are in favour or opposition-everybody in india (considering northern region )are fully command in hindi? answer is no . even the very contries who are using English are known to their own language first.instead of debating whether English this and that! try to observe In your surroundings .in India when a infant is born, s/he is forced to communicate only in Hindi and refused to use Hindi language as it is some backwardness! what a crap! even latest hindi conference in bholpal was observered years later .so why Indians even expect to outsiders to learn our language. firstly all Indians should or i say must accept it . and then show others that no language is backward unless and until her country adopts full fledged! and in case of being practical, be practical with enhancing your country also I must say ..thanku

- English is a language given to us by Brits. We have maintained this language as a remnant of their culture. It is good as far as we respect the language just as a remnant. Trying to imbibe the same into the integral part of our nation is not very much appreciable.When we express our reluctance to accept English as our official language, it does not mean that we are anti-English language. English is also as good as any other language. It has given us a medium to communicate globally. We could match the pace of world due to our understanding and grasping of this global language.Still, when the discussion gets back to declaring an official language for our country, there lies a question, why not our national language and why English for official language? Every country is keen in giving importance to their own national language. We are having many dialects and yet we managed to declare one as our national language. It would be more apt to give importance to this national language over any other language.We are following English in all the documents so far. In case we have our national language as official language, it would be nearly impossible to understand the content in a new language all of a sudden. It would be wise to have both English and Hindi in our official documents for few years before replacing English altogether.

You people all can give your share of arguments supporting English as our official
language but in my opinion i firmly believe this is a regressive attitude. By supporting
English we prove the English colonial rule successful. We disrespect all the martyrs
Who put their life on stake while struggling through it. We disrespect their ideologies
That India is incredible .This would not make India any different from those countries
Who adopted English life styles their languages and successively lost their track on human development. A countries culture is only its pure wealth, its individual existence.Now on practical side you would say it would help people gaining employment
No doubt ! but my question is for how long? just by mere speaking a foreign language
People could go nowhere far than getting job in some outsourcing companies. We should give more attention learning the “real thing”.that is core teaching only which could really help a country in longer run. On the account of being multi lingual country we should adopt a “common language”... let me throw some light on country populations exposed to this fancy language, nearly 3/4 a billion population of the country population never spoke a English word in their life and the remaining more-than half are struggling achieving command in it. They burn midnight oil just to speak some regular words and in return what they can get a salesman job or something. Why we should not generate employment
