About GE
General Electric is the Digital Industrial Company founded in 1992. It is engaged in transforming industry with software-defined machines and solutions that are connected, responsive and predictive. The company operates in two segments - Power and Transport.
In this section, I will be discussing the selection and interview process conducted in campus placement at General Electric.
Selection Process at GE
The selection process at GE consists of three rounds:
1. Written Aptitude Test
2. Technical Interview
3. HR Interview
The first round is Written Aptitude Test. It consists of questions from aptitude and technical sections. Total questions are 100 that are to be completed in 3 hours. Questions covered the subjects of Engineering, i.e., Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Computer Science.
Some of the sample questions asked in the test are:
1. Ram borrows Rs. 10,000 for 2 years at 4% p.a. simple interest. He lends it to Dilip at 6% p.a. for 2 years. Find his gain in this transaction per year.
2. For a motorboat that covers a certain distance downstream in 2 hours & returns in 3 hours, what would be its speed in still water if the speed of stream is 6 km/hr?
3. For high voltage transmission lines, why are conductors suspended from towers?
4. What reinforcements are used in the process of prestressing?
Technical Interview at GE
Before attending Technical Interview, brush-up all the concepts of electrical subjects like, power systems, electrical measurements, electrical machines, power electronics and drives. This is an elimination round, so go through the whole syllabus thoroughly.
HR Interview at GE
Here, the HR person tests the communication skills and problem handling capability. They can ask general questions like, introduction, strengths and weaknesses, company profile etc.
