Global impact of Indian culture with India movies.
With Indian Cinema producing a large number of films every year, the whole world gets an impact of Indian culture
Introduction
Cinema is an important medium of communication. It is a very powerful medium that cuts across all divides of class, and has the great ability to influence masses. Especially in today’s digital age, where creating and sharing movies has been made very simple, it is easy to reach a wide audience like never before.
Globalizing and popularizing an idea
Indian cinema has always been on the global scene, due to the pioneering work of movie makers like Satyajit Ray, Dadasaheb Phalke, Girish Kasaravalli, and Bharathan, among others. As mentioned, cinema is a medium that can cut across linguistic and cultural borders, and can communicate to all people.
Movies with a universal theme would appeal better to a foreign audience, but to introduce a particular culture to a group, an ethnic theme would work best. Movies like Bhansali’s Devdas, Rituparno Ghosh’s Choker Bali, Ray’s Apu trilogy, Meera Nair’s Salaam Bombay, or Kukunoor’s Hyderabad Blues speak in their own way about the life and times in India. Some of these movies are set in modern India, and some are set in pre-independence days. Each movie speaks about Indian culture, based on the director’s style. Indian movies have been presented in international platforms like the Oscars, Cannes, and other major movie festivals for several years now, but it is only in the last few decades that popular Indian cinema has gained an audience. It is important to include subtitles in English or the local language for better understanding.
Thanks to Indian cinema, Indian festivals like Holi, and Deepawali, have become familiar terms to foreign audiences. Likewise, movies like Deepa Mehta’s Water, and Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire play their role in highlighting social evils that were (or still are) a part of our society.
At the same time, the Government should also do their bit in encouraging and promoting meaningful cinema, which goes beyond the Bollywood song-dance routine. Movies with a social theme like Manthan, or the Kannada film Dweepa, should get financial assistance, as well as more platforms.
Indian artistes like Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Amitabh Bacchan, Irrfan Khan, Anil Kapoor etc. are making their presence felt in foreign shores in different ways. They are either involved in acting in foreign films, or are part of the jury at prominent film festivals, like the famous Cannes Festival in France. These artistes also do their bit in promoting Indian culture abroad with their appearances.
Conclusion
Film makers have an important responsibility while creating movies. They become the ambassadors of their culture. So it is very important that they try to remain neutral in their presentation, but at the same time make sure they do not miss out on anything important.

- Indian culture is well propagated by means of the Indian films featured across different parts of the world. Indians are settled in different parts of the world and with their charm, Indian movies are also travelling across the globe.
There are many movies giving the special note of the Indian culture and its importance. The pride and honour of our culture has been well expressed by the various actors and actresses of the film industry. Media is the fastest means of communication and movies have a long term impact on people in comparison to any other form. With such a crucial role to play, Indian cinema has spread its charm worldwide.
The latest movies of the Indian film industry have definitely created a setback to the values of the Indian culture. The film industry has become more focussed towards attracting the young age group, with their silly tactics of featuring the romantic stories in an unedited manner. Some of the movies definitely are going much out of the values of Indian culture. It would be better if we can refine those movies as well to retain the charm of our culture and prestige forever.
