1. I want to know about the organization?

The Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) was amongst the first to receive an ‘in principle’ approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up a bank in the private sector, as part of RBI’s liberalization of the Indian Banking Industry in 1994. The bank was incorporated in August 1994 in the name of ‘HDFC Bank Limited’, with its registered office in Mumbai, India. HDFC Bank commenced operations as a Scheduled Commercial Bank in January 1995.

2. Who is eligible to apply at HDFC Bank?

Graduate in any discipline from reputed University is the educational qualification required for applying in HDFC Bank.

3. What is the age limit to apply in this exam?

Your age must be above 18 years and below 25 years.

4. What is the Bank exam pattern?


Bank conducts written examination for filling the post of Clerk and PO. Each Bank has its own examination pattern and selection criteria.

Written test pattern includes the following subject Topics:

2. Test of English Language
3. Test of Numerical Ability
4. Test of General Awareness
5. Test of Computer Knowledge

Time duration : 2 hours

There is also negative marking of 0.25 marks as penalty on each wrong answer means on every four wrong answer a mark will be deducted from the total of scoring marks.

English language ------- 40 Max. marks
General awareness ------- 40 Max. marks
Computer knowledge ------- 20 Max. marks

The following is the full Description of the pattern and the topic above includes:

Test of Reasoning:

In this section you will get all the reasoning type questions and for this you will get about 50 minutes to attempt it. This is a good scoring for the student of non-math as it contains non-math questioning.

Test of English Language:

This section includes all the English Grammar, Comprehensive, Vocabulary, Sentence correlation type questioning. Some of the Banks can replace this section with the Hindi Language plus English language according to their own pattern. The section is of 50 minutes to attempt.

Test of Numerical Ability:
This section includes: Decimal fractions, simplifications, Averages, Simple interest, Percentages, Profit and loss, Number series, Data sufficiency and etc. In this section you will get the following:

20-25 questions is of simplifications

3-4 questions from Numerical series

5 questions is of data sufficiency

Other questions from arithmetic topics

The section also of 50 marks and one mark each.

Test of General Awareness:

This section is related to the general awareness with particular reference to the Banking industry. The section is also of 50 marks, one mark each to every question.

Test of Computer Knowledge:

It is related to the basic information of computer field and related to it. This section is also contains 50 marks and one mark to each question.

5. How to apply in HDFC Bank?


You have to visit website www.hdfcbank.com to search and apply for suitable positions. Since HDFC Bank does not advertise their recruitment, you have to regularly visit their site and keep track of any new job notices.

Once the search is complete, a list of jobs available in Bank’s branches will be displayed. It has a following info: location, position and job date. The job responsibilities, duties and eligibility are mentioned. If you satisfy the given eligibility conditions for that specific post, click on the button that says ‘Apply Now’.

If you are applying for the first time then you have to submit your resume. Once its done, the system will record your application as sent. As resume is stored in their database, the next time you want to apply for openings in the HDFC bank- just login on their site and send the application on line.
