Do you think we should be celebrating one day for Hindi in Hindustan?

Yes

• Language reflects culture, and the celebration of Hindi Diwas will be celebration of Indian culture.

• Indians celebrate Valentine’s Day, mother’s day, father’s day and many other days which have originated from western countries. Why can’t we then celebrate Hindi Diwas?

• Celebrations just need a reason, and celebrating Hindi Diwas will open the doors for celebrating other languages too.

• The modern generation doesn’t want to speak Hindi and considers a Hindi speaking person as illiterate. Hindi Diwas will motivate youngsters to have positive perception for Hindi.

• There is no day dedicated for celebration of any language in India. Celebrating Hindi Diwas can be considered as a National Festival.

No

• Celebration of Hindi Diwas can result in another political drama in India as all the regional parties will find a reason to oppose it.

• A major part of India, especially Region C, doesn’t support the use of Hindi in any case. It can open up new controversy in nation.

• Hindi is not even the official language of Hindi and therefore, celebrating Hindi Diwas will be nothing but a showoff day in nation.

• Hindi Diwas will not help the language get recognition. Instead government should first take other measures to make Hindi as compulsory language in all states.

• Hindi Diwas will create unnecessary conflicts between the people of different castes and religions. The boundaries between the states will be widened by celebrating Hindi Diwas.

Conclusion

Celebrating one day for Hindi in Hindustan is not a bad idea. However, it should be secondary objective. First it is essential to make the language popular in all states of India. Also, youngsters should feel proud when they talk in Hindi. Until and unless, the citizens don’t understand the significance of Hindi language, no celebration will be really meaningful.

  • Celebrating a day for our national language is good to think. Implementing the same can be equally joyful, if all the citizens of the country participate in the pleasure. Our country has many dialects and people are more concerned about their own religion and dialect and lack the own-ness in their thinking for the national language.

Any celebration in incomplete, without its members participating whole-heartedly in the event. We have many states who oppose Hindi, few others who don’t have any interest in promoting the language. We have lot many citizens who don’t understand Hindi. Just advocating a day, or providing a holiday will not suffice the idea of spreading the importance of any language. Before the celebration, we need to impart the respect for the national language amongst the citizens.

Every language is good and has its own importance. Every language can be celebrated by those who feel the pride and respect for the dialect, but regarding the celebration of the hindi diwas, every citizen need to feel the same pride and respect, as it is our national language.

Coming on to preaching the importance of Hindi among our youth, it is not the celebration of a day in the year which will teach them the due respect for the language. The goodness and the importance of learning and usage of the mother tongue and national language should be incorporated into the little brains right from their childhood. Just a days’ celebration will not initiate any enthusiasm in the youth. Instead they will enjoy one more holiday in a western style of living that they are following.

So, to be precise, a lot of other things need to be done before declaring an allocated day for the ‘Hindi’ as ‘Hindi Diwas’. Only that could complete the actual motive behind forming and celebrating such a day.

  • i think we should celebrate hindi divas. Not only because it is our national language it is also our mother tongue and we should respect our mother tongue .
Toady hindi has has only matr language not matri language. some people are hesitate to speak in hindi.they prefer english rather than hindi.they think that hindi speaking people are illeterate.i think they don't respect hindi. There are some states in india which totally oppose hindi as the official language of india.
but i think we should not celebrate hindi divas but also make some agenda on that day to teach hindi to each and state every state in which hindi speaking people are less in number and when all the people of the country able to speak and write in hindi then we can think that hindi divas is really successful.
