How can products be classified?

Products can be basically divided into two major classes - consumer products and business products. Those that are purchased by the consumer for his personal consumption are known as consumer products eg. television, mobile handsets, detergents etc. while those that are purchased by the industry or business firms for further production are known as business products eg. Raw materials, spare parts, machinery etc.
