How do you feel about reporting to a younger person (minority, woman, etc)?
How do you feel about reporting to a younger person (minority, woman, etc)?
You can say that you always prefer to work in the environment where hires and promotes are done on merit alone. The age (gender, race, etc.) of the person would certainly make no difference to you. You believe that anyone who is entrusted with certain job must have earned it.

- Does that hurt your ego when you are asked to be reporting to someone younger than you? Well, it shouldn't. And unless you are a chauvinist, it should definitely not bother you if your boss is a woman or a minor. Even if it does, there is nothing you could do about it, he/she has earned it and you might as well start working harder instead of being envious at their sight. Trust me on this one, envy gets you nowhere at work. Your answer must show that you are perfectly fine with reporting to a minor or a woman or a person younger than you.
You can mention an instance, if you had, when you have previously reported to a younger person and you were not the least bit affected in any negative way. The interviewer wants to know that you are not one of those people who start crying foul everytime they see someone younger get more successful than them.
"I would feel absolutely positive about it. It would be good to know that the company I am working for hires solely on merits, without gender or age biases. I believe that there is always more scope for growth in a company which recruits younger people at higher positions based on their merits."
"There is no reason why I would ever feel hesitant in reporting to a person younger than me, woman or minor. In fact, in my previous job I have been reporting to this manager who was 10 years younger than me. There is always something new and refreshing to learn from young talents."
