I aspire to be a marine engineer. Currently, I am in 11th standard and would like to start my preparations soon. How is Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies, Pune for B.Tech in marine engineering? What are their cut-off marks for admission and what are the other credentials they look for during admission? Please inform me about their admission procedures as well.

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies is amongst the top maritime colleges in India which makes it definitely an excellent choice for B.Tech in marine engineering. It is affiliated to Indian Maritime University (IMU) Chennai. Minimum Percentage required for admission is 60% in 12th boards including a minimum of PCM 60%. Please note that For Andhra Pradesh & Kerala State Board, separate board exams held for each class, 11th & 12th, and hence, aggregate of each year marks are considered. English should be one of the subjects with minimum marks scored 50% in class X or XII. You should be physically fit and meet the standards laid out by DG Shipping. You should not have colour blindness. Use of corrective lenses is permitted.

You will need to clear IMU CET also. You can fill in their online or offline forms and appear the entrance tests conducted by the institute all over the country. If you qualify the test, you will be called for a personal interview which is followed by medical examination and psychometric test. Medical examination shall be conducted by medical practitioners appointed by the DG Shipping, which will examine all selected candidates for certifying conformation with the medical requirements as laid down by the Directorate General of Shipping.
