PR or public relation is related to evaluation of public attitudes and maintenance of mutual relations and understanding between an organisation and its public. Public relation officers ensure internal unity in the company by making a bridge between the management and employees. If you enter this field then the first main objective is to improve channels of communication and to find various ways of setting up a two way flow of information and understanding. Public relation officer or PR officer ensures that the correct and valid information about their respective employee is made known to the right people in order to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its public. They provide the necessary promotion, service and facilities to the new products that come into existence. The role of a public relation specialist becomes significant in tight situations when the correct and timely transaction of information can help save the face of the organisation.
Some of the other responsibilities involve product publicity, corporate publicity, to have better relations with the government, to publish corporate publications like newsletter, bulletins, and magazines for employees, etc. It’s a very challenging field and it has various different objectives to achieve. Public relations revolve around what is going on around you and the politics and current affairs of the day, both domestic and international. You should have an understanding of the listener’s psyche and how to mould it in your favour.
