If you are asked to do something different in your job, what would it be? Why?

If you are asked to do something different in your job, what would it be? Why?

Answer: The purpose of this question is to check your ability to think logically out of the box and take an action.

This question can be answered by telling the recruiter about something that you think can make a difference to the job you are currently doing. For a better explanation, convert the actions you propose into results. Also, at this point in time, you need to tell them about the action you have taken with your proposal – this saves you from being perceived just as a thinker.

For e.g. “I believe that communicating the information of our new ad-campaign to the internal team will motivate everyone and also have them perform with more vigour. The template for this is in process and very soon we will see it in action.”

  • The interviewer seeks to know if you are a multi-tasker, multi-skilled person who would fit into other roles too if needed. Answer wisely or else you will be expected to do something that you would rather not in future. You can answer by mentioning a role meant for a senior in your position and support with how you have been observing the work for a while and think that you have gained knowledge and would like to put that into practice if asked to.

Abstain from mentioning anything just to impress the interviewer and things that you would be least interested in doing ever.

You can mention a work that would benefit from your suggestions and from experiences that you already possess. In a job everyone has eyes for a higher position and a promotion to that position in future. Mentioning a task done in those positions can prove to be beneficial for you. Do you research well to know which tasks are done by those in positions higher than you.
