Which institutes in India offer M.Des course?

M.Des stands for Master in Designing – it is a course related to designing the requirement of industries. This option can be chosen as higher studies options. Following are the institutes provide M.Des programmes:

1. IIS (Indian Institute of Science) – offers the course as Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing which includes product design and engineering. This course helps in developing design skills, overall designing knowledge and aptitude of students.
To opt for this institute the applicants should have B.E/B.Tech degree having specialization of design or architecture. The selection is totally based on the performance in interviews, aptitude and tests conducted at the centre. The exam that needs to be taken is CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) or GATE score.

2. IIT Bombay having Industrial Design Centre – this offers M.Des course in the following specialization:
a. Industrial design,
b. Visual communication,
c. Animation,
d. Interaction design, and
e. Mobility and transportation.

To qualify for this a person should have a graduation degree in engineering or architecture or design or interior design or in any professional diploma from National Institute of Design or Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPT University). The students should attain a percentage of 55 to be qualified in the examination for the above institute.
BFA degree holders and Master’s degree in arts or science or computer applications can also opt for M.Des degree having specialization in visual communication, animation and interaction design Programmes.

3. IIT Delhi offers M.Des. degree course having the specialization in industrial design. The focus of the course remains in providing innovative product concept.

4. IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur offers M.Des. degree course that provides design and development courses with environmental design and design management.
