IOCL Placement Process
IOCL is an abbreviation of Indian Oil Corporation limited and is the largest company with a turnover of more than 4 crore. They have their business interests straddling the entire hydrocarbon value change of products starting right from pipeline transportation to refining, marketing and exploring the petroleum products, production of crude oil and gas, marketing of natural gas and petrochemicals. The various products manufactured by IOCL are:

The selection criterion for IOCL is the candidate must score a minimum of 65% marks in Engineering or Business Management. The candidate must have completed his/ her graduation from a recognised institute and must have done a full time course. Candidates from the following engineering and technology streams are preferred:
• Electrical
• Civil
• Mechanical
• Chemical including petrochemical/ polymer engineering
• Instrumentation & Control
• Computer science
• Fire engineering
• Metallurgy
The selection procedure for IOCL consists of a written test, group discussion or group task and personal interview. The written test consists of objective type of questions divided into two parts, general aptitude and discipline knowledge, i.e. the technical sections. The Group discussion and the personal interview round are set to measure the candidates’ knowledge, skills, attitude and aptitude. Candidates from the Boiler Operation engineering stream need not appear for the written test. To get the offer letter in hand, the candidate needs to successfully clear all the rounds.
The aptitude section includes questions from topics like percentage, allegation, bar and pie chart based problems, cone based questions, coding, choose the odd man out, antonyms and synonyms; also questions based on general awareness and a few questions on history like birth place of president, who is the president of Nigeria, etc. whereas the technical section consist of questions from topics like, C, DBMS, switching, Automation, UNIX, Physics, etc.
