Is Pakistan being too soft on terrorism?

Introduction:

The massacre in Pakistan led to the controversy that Pakistan's support to terrorism right from the very beginning gave birth to this tragedy. PM Narendra Modi was not taunting when he criticized the Pakistan government for being too soft on terrorism. They talk of fighting against terrorists but keep terrorists as VVIP in their jails. This tragedy made them alert but are they still as careful as they should be? The innocents had to pay the price for the political games Pakistan has for long been playing to fulfil its immoral errands.

Yes, Pakistan is being soft on terrorism:

1. Political powers of the country has always and still continues to play intervened with these terror groups. They might always claim not to support their activities but never utter anything against one of these groups to steer clear during their election campaigns.

2. The Pakistan army might now be all against the heinous crime but they actually did nothing to break the synergy between these terror groups. They patronized and even supported the Haqqani network to target Indian interests. The Pakistan terror groups like Talibans are not working alone but with the support of these networks.

3. The Pakistan government is only worried about improving it's strategies and defense against India. They have to realize that the real terror is inside their own land and that's one of the major reason why Taliban has been able to carry out it's undertakings in Pakistan. It's high time that Pakistan should focus on increasing their defence inside their own country to fight with these terror groups and to protect its people from such threats where lives of innocent people including children are at stake.

4. Pakistan still has the stupid belief of 'good terrorists' and ' bad terrorists.' Their linkage with the Afghan Taliban to fight the influences of Western culture is where the entire problem starts. They plotting and planning against India makes Pakistan believe of being in their good books. Their claim of trying to make it an Islamic state is nothing but hypocrisy and Pakistan seems to be buying this concept in its favour. Pakistan must understand that terror activities cannot be justified and that there cannot be a thing such as 'good terrorism.'

5. Treating terrorists like VVIPs and providing shelter to the mastermind of attacks like Mumbai blast is not different from providing a shelter base to terror activities. As you site so shall you reap is the saying that goes for Pakistan. Their own stupid strategy turned back on them. Keeping more than 3000 terrorists behind bars and yet not punishing them shows clearly that Pakistan has been too soft on terrorism.

No, Pakistan is not being soft on terrorism:

1. Pakistan hanged more and more terrorists after the massacre in army school in Peshawar. After years of banning death sentences Pakistan finally seems to have learned it's lesson and this time they are determined by to be soft on terrorists. Their pledges seem true this time and probably in years to come Pakistan will see a terrorists free rule.

2. Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that the government would no longer differentiate between good and bad terrorists and that they have to fight this cancer like disease called terrorism spreading violently in their country.

3. The attack on the army school was a mission to incur fear in the minds of the Pakistan government which saw a rise in the fight against terrorism since as predicted by a Washington report. The attack was in retaliation for military offensives in the northwest tribal this year.

4. The attack in itself is a proof that Pakistan's fight against terrorism was having an impact and that must have made the psychic terrorists insecure enough to make them take the offensive action of doing the cruel deed of killing children so that the fight would be stopped due to fear of more such massacres.

Conclusion:

It is not easy for a country like Pakistan, where terrorism has spread its wings in the most remote corners, to put a stop in these activities all at once. It is a crucial decision and the military alone cannot put it to action until the other factors confer together to join the fight against terrorism. The brutal killing of so many innocent lives had to end and the planners and masterminds, punished for their evil deeds. Only then we could say that Pakistan took this tragic and indeed the saddest of inhuman attack as an eye opener.

  • Pakistan had been dwelling on their silly thought of good and bad terrorism for a long time now. It has been quite a long time that they have accommodated evil and crooked minds in to their country. They have always felt the necessity to dig the trenches for others and spread their own religion by means of fear and suppression. But it is the time when the ideology they thought to be a boon actually turned out to be a curse for them.

“What you sow, so shall you reap”. All they have sowed is evil thoughts of destruction which has resulted in their self-destruction. It is pretty understandable that the Pakistan army is not in a mental or emotional circumstance of supporting any terrorist activities, yet we cannot trust that they will keep up their virtue and spirit in their fight against the terrorism.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s army alone cannot fight this epidemic of terrorism which has inflicted every nook and corner of their nation. Their Government still doesn’t seem to be all that serious regarding punishing the terrorists. Their partial behaviour and soft corner for the terrorist groups attacking India or any other nation would definitely prove fatal for them sooner or later in the future. Hence, till the time they do not leave aside their partial instinct regarding the terrorism and their evil activities, we cannot deny the stand that “Pakistan is too soft on terrorism”.
