There are two friends who meet every evening and argue daily on one topic. One is vegetarian and other is non vegetarian. They keep on discussing about the ins and outs of killing animals. The discussion goes on. The discussion is also extended to the use of the clothing made from animals’ skin or fur. So it is really not fair to kill the animals for useful products or is it ok to do so?

• Killing animal for food or for their leather or fur is just another part of food chain. If you see the killing in the light of science you will find nothing wrong with it.

• You cannot allow the animals to grow and reproduce at a higher rate. There should be a healthy balance of the organisms in nature.

• Animals are a fine source of leather, food and fur. If you look at the business figures of these industries you will even support the killing of animals for productive use. They in a way are making economy strong.

• Food products like eggs are a good source of nutrition for human body. Also certain vitamin like B12 essential to body is not found in vegetarian foods.

• The leather and fur product provides work and job opportunity to a number of people. Just because they kill animals and make products don’t make them criminals. Even they work hard to earn their living.

• Leather and suede are seen as by-products of the widely-accepted meat industry.

• It is inhumane to kill the animals for the purpose of leather and fur. Look the animals that are killed for all these products. Don’t you think fur actually looked best on the animal that was born wearing it? It goes for other animals too.

• There are some industries where the down comes from living birds. They are not killed but their hair is ripped out of their head. And this happens on regular basis.

• Why someone needs to buy products containing feathers or down when they can buy the synthetic insulating materials.

• The market has a whole range of fashionable non-animal alternatives. Killing animals for products is a choice not compulsion. So when you have other good choices open then you don’t need to kill any creature made by God.

• There is a risk of water pollution from the wool production. There is a risk of pollution from leather tanneries. Also some leather products can cause skin problems. So why to buy such products that are harmful for environment and people.

Conclusion

The people have different thoughts, different likes and different perceptions. In any case, one fact that cannot change is that killing animals specifically for their skin or chopping them to eat is inhumane. If anything good happens out of this is only the profit that these industries earn by selling these products in market.
