‘Mera Kya’ and ‘Mujhe Kya’ culture of corruption

‘Mera Kya’ and ‘Mujhe Kya’ culture of corruption – Who should be blamed : Corrupt officials or the common man?

Introduction

Our honourable Prime Minister is very much concerned about the increasing corruption rate in the country. He has raised his concern in his speech during the ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the National Highway linking Haryana with Rajasthan. He has also reminded of his words during his Independence Day speech regarding the “‘Mera Kya’ and ‘Mujhe Kya’ culture of corruption” prevailing in our country. It is very much understandable that corruption has entered every nook and corner of the country and has almost dug a deep pitch for our economy and the development of the nation. All of us accept this truth that the corruption needs to be abolished to have a tremendous growth and proper utilization of our brains and power.

To start on with this cleaning procedure, we need to understand where to start with - Is that the corrupt officials or the common man who has ruined the nation?

Corrupt Officials

- The one who is at the receiving end is always the initiator of the fault. The corrupt officials have forced the nation to follow their illogical and illegal process and proceedings.

- Not just the officials, but the corruption has spread its wings from the ground level staff.

- People who need to get their work done at the government office is either forced to submit under this bribery; else they are made to run from pillar to post with no use.

- Self contentment is the biggest gift of God. The person whose mind is filthy enters this path of taking bribe. He is the one who keeps the public under their trap.

- The corrupt official or the staff drags many others into their loop to join their hands in this illegal proceedings. They not only hamper the task assigned to them, instead spread this dangerous epidemic throughout.

Common Man

- Every person starts and ends his life with his family. The family requirements and the needs initiated at the home make a person to take this path of bribery. It is the common man in the form of his family who has forced the official to get corrupt.

- The greed factor which is seen in many of the women in the Indian families remains a major background cause of corruption. The self contentment is not only restricted to the person at fault, but also their spouse and family members. The greed for more than their earnings pushes an individual to this pit.

- It is the common man who gives encouragement to bribery. Just a small example of a person caught at traffic signal for breaking the rules first tries to bribe the traffic constable instead of accepting his fault and paying the penalty.

- If every person in our country can raise a single voice against corruption and deny to give any bribe, then definitely this could be stopped. But the common man himself lacks the unity and courage to fight against this monster corruption. It is us who do not mind getting our work done even if we have to "pay something".

Conclusion

Though we can keep giving the arguments in favour and against of this notion, the truth remains unmoved that the corruption as a whole has ruined the nation. It is the similar portrayal as whose existence is prior – an egg or a hen? Both the giving and the receiving end are at fault. If we can keep a check on one, the other would be ceased itself. Rather than wasting the time on thinking the one to be blamed, let us put our thought, voice and mind together and join hands in the movement for the ‘Corruption Free India’.

  • corruption is the main problem in path of our nation's development. In our country corruption
spreads from top level to bottom level. To satisfy their needs common man did not hesitate in doing unfair acts like taking bribes. To make any work in govt. offices you should have a big jack otherwise you have to do many rounds to complete your work.
So, to get rid of the corruption every person should take a hard step before it emerges as a curse for our nation.

  • both officials and common man are responsible for corruption.but i feel common man is more responsible bcoz ww used to pay money when it affects us,just like in case of traffic challan we start comprimising..similarly in case of driving license even if someone dnt knw driving or colorblind can still get license coz of bribe.. we all know that if we dnt give bribes to touts then how can they do do corruptn..so of all we should change our self then try to change others.

  • i am completly in fav0ur of Mr Modi.
mera and mujhe culture is d one responsible majorly for all corruption that is presently in the country.
i too under came its influence recently as i conducted a party and collected 500 rs from each person.
i was being asked at the end" KITNA KAMAYA BHAI".
WELL dis is d scenario in india,
if u do any work whether it is good or bad u r always under d curtain that u have earned something.
so in my opinion if mera and mujhe culture is stopped modt of d corruption can be sustained.

  • Corruption has been widespread in India from decades. It contributes to the various kinds of division in society. It mainly widens the gap between the haves and have-not. People who can manipulate the things with resources tend to win in the game. And both the corrupt officials and common men are responsible for the prevalent corruption.

The forms of corruption are followed by both the parties. Mostly it is because they now that what you know don’t work, but whom you know works in India. Until and unless, the resources or connections are not used, the work stays in incomplete stage. As a result, the people are forced to bribe the officials.

At the same time, there is no check point for the officials. From the lower level to the higher officials, all are busy fulfilling their own pockets. Even the political groups are no exception. In such a scenario who will keep a check on corruption? The law enforcement is nothing but few words written in a book. Hardly, there are few cases where the officials are caught and punished.

Corruption is rooted deep in the society. It starts from all the corners and spreads to all the corners. All are equally responsible for the mess. The society has to wake up and ask some questions to the various elements. If it doesn’t, the dirt of corruption will just get dirtier and end up becoming a deep marsh for India.
