MICAT 2014 - Mudra Institutes Common Aptitude Test
Introduction to MICAT
MICAT – Mudra Institutes Common Aptitude Test is conducted by one of the premier educational institutions in India – MICA. The test tries to assess the analytical ability, verbal ability, logical reasoning, divergent thinking, written communication skills, creativity potential and general awareness. The written test is followed by GE and PI. MICA is ranked favorably amongst not only the top management institutes in Gujarat but also the top management institutes in India. MICA prefers candidates with relevant work experience but no special weightage is provided to them for short-listing.
Who’s Eligible?
- Candidates seeking admission to PGDM(C) should possess a graduate degree (10+2+3 years) or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates appearing for final year examination of their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply.
- Foreign Nationals/ NRIs should apply to MICA through GMAT scores(2010 onwards).
- Foreign Nationals/ NRIs will be shortlisted for a Personal Interview Process via teleconference in April 2014.
How’s the test conducted?
- Candidates apply to MICA with scores of either CAT2013 / XAT2013 /XAT2014 / MAT2013 (Feb/May/ Sept/Dec) / CMAT2013 (Sept) / ATMA2013 (Feb/May/July) GMAT (2010 onwards)
- All the candidates who apply to MICA are called to take MICAT.
- Based on their performance in MICAT, short listed students are invited for GE (Group Exercise) and PI (Personal Interview).
Test Pattern:
- Time : 2 hrs.
- MICAT test is usually divided into two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- Paper 1 has two sections. Section 1 has 35 questions in all based on Reasoning and General Awareness while section 2 is about writing ability. Reasoning usually covers questions on Visual Reasoning, Word Association, Data Sufficiency and Statement Conclusion. General Awareness has can have questions on advertising, General Global Awareness, General Knowledge, Marketing and Media etc.
- Section 2 which tests the Writing Ability of a candidate will need you to write For and Against a particular topic & finally take a stand on the topic. Another question in this section will need you to write a story based on the given pictures.
- Paper 2 is a psychometric test in which the candidate needs to attempt all the questions.
- This pattern of questions has been observed in the last few year. However, you can expect to see some last minute surprises at the actual test and should be ready to face them.
