Migration from the developed countries to developing countries have increased

A lot of people from developing countries have migrated to developed countries in last 15 years. How big is it a problem in 21st century?

It is true that migration from the developed countries to developing countries have increased over the last 15 years or so. It has both positive and negative impacts. However, I do not see this as a very big problem. In fact, in a lot of ways I feel this migration is useful for both the countries.

It enables different cultures to interact with each other and this is the basic need of this “Globalized era”. It enables the people from developing countries to acquire better education and improve their living standards.

Also, when the migrants from developing countries settle down in the developed countries, they earn better money. They are able to send money to their extended families in their home country. As a result, this helps the less – developed countries out of poverty. Also, burden is reduced on the infrastructure and resources of the developing countries since lot of people have moved away and developing countries are the one which always have fewer resources as compared to the requirements.

Moreover, statistics show that most of the developed countries have aged population and the birth rates are not very high in developed countries like in developing countries. As a result, the developed countries are also in great need of the young people who can work for their economy.

However, looking at the other side of the picture, migration from developing countries, leaves the developing country deprived of young brains, a term often referred to as “brain drain”. As a result, developing country is less prepared to make progress as the young hands and minds have moved out.

Hence, we can see that there are both negative and positive aspects of migration from the developing countries into developed countries. This is one of the biggest facets Globalization has brought with itself. However, some level of migration is beneficial for both the economies but excess of it may over burden the developed economies and the intellectual flight from the developing ones, may slow down their progress even further.

As a result, Government of developing countries should create as many opportunities as possible for the youth in terms of jobs and education so that the citizens can flourish and the nation can progress.
