Question: Recently, India and Tanzania have signed MoUs to deepen bilateral relations. Elaborate.
The following MoUs have been signed between India and Tanzania:
•MoU on Collaborative Program in Official Statistics: MoU was set up between East Africa Statistical Training Centre/EASTC in Tanzania and National Statistical System Training Academy/NSSTA in India to establish a collaborative programme in official statistics. This MoU is also for capacity building of EASTC staff and other African nations in official statistics
•MoU on Agricultural Research: This is an MoU between EASTC and ICAR or Indian Council of Agricultural Research-IASRI/Indian Agricultural Statistics, Computer Applications and Bio Informatics
•MoU on Cooperation in Tourism: This aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in tourism and hospitality sectors
•MoU between EXIM Bank and Government of Tanzania/GoT: This is for a USD 268.35 million for extension of Lake Victoria pipeline project. Agreement between the bank and the government is to operationalise the LoC
•MoU Between WAPCOS and GoT: This is an agreement between WAPCOS(PSU under Ministry of Water) and GoT for setting up DPR for the Lake Victoria pipeline project appointing the former as PMC
•MoU For Cooperation in Hydrography: This is between India and Tanzanian on the cooperation and protocol of exchange of hydrographic data. It will establish development and cooperation in the field of hydrography via surveys, exchange of data, infrastructural boosting and capacity building
