Government is oriented towards youth led development and for youth to play central role in nation building

• A scheme for inculcating leadership in youth called National Youth Leaders Programme has been implemented

• This scheme has 5 components namely:

- Neighbourhood of Youth Parliament: Developing platform of youth clubs through vibrant neighbourhood youth parliament for educating the members.

- Youth for Development Programme: This channelises the youth energy towards building a nation by involving them in Shramadaan or voluntary labour on a large scale all over the nation

- National Young Leaders Awards: This is for motivating youth to strive for excellence in their fields through recognition and reward of the work done by them

- National Youth Advisory Council: This is for active involvement of youth leaders plus other stakeholders in the decision making process on issues related to youth

- National Youth Development Fund: This is for mobilising funds for youth development from non governmental sources such as CSR funds

• During 2014-2015, 4640 Block Youth Parliament Programmes were organised
