Not blocking the disqualification of convicted MPs

Supreme Court has imposed an order on the serving politicians, if they are condemned for any delinquency that entices a sentence of 2 years or more, they would be disqualified from the parliament and the state legislatures.

For:

- The apex court's reigning will help in the scrutinizing the political ambit in India where the populaces have showed disenchantment with the political class in which delinquency has increased in conjunction with corruption and hypocrisy
- The conviction of disqualification of serving politicians for at-least 6 years will also help in building in the trust between the general public and the politicians
- The membership of the politicians cannot be reinstated even though if he will be found innocent
- This verdict will also help in reducing the crime rates, as often the criminals are supported by some or the other political backing

Against:

- If there is any kind of delay in convicting the MLA’s and MP’s then the governance would be affected and so in turn the general public will also be affected
- There is no back-up if the MP’s or MLA’s are sentenced and not allowed to vote again
- India is known for the delays and orders not being followed, the politicians using their power can be bailed out or can bribe and hide the entire matter

Conclusion:

- The disqualification of convicted MP’s is definitely the right thing and should be followed with strict adherence to the rules

    For:

    - In recent times, Indian political parties have made a mockery of democracy by harbouring so many criminal elements. But lately, the direction of Supreme Court to the government to enforce an order on the serving MPs, MLAs and MLCs if they are convicted for a crime is a small but a decisive step towards ridding the political system of malcontents. They would be disqualified from Parliament and the state legislatures and will also have to bear a sentence of two years or more.
    - The apex court's ruling will definetly cause a political churning in a country whose people have displayed widespread disappointment with a political class in which criminality has thrived alongside venality and dishonesty.
    - The conviction of disqualification of serving politicians will also help in building in the trust between the general public and the politicians.
    - The membership of the politicians cannot be reinstated even though if he will be found innocent.
    - This verdict will also help in reducing the crime rates, as often the criminals are supported by political backing.

    Against:

    - There should not be any dely in implementing the direction given by Supreme Court. Otherwise, governance would be affected and so in turn the general public will also be affected.
    - In India, the process of following any order is very slow. In that case, the politician will use their power and will bail out or will bribe and hide the entire matter.
    - The disqualification of convicted MP’s is definitely the right thing and should be followed with strict adherence to the rules.
