Only Lok Sabha members should become prime ministers.

- PM coming from the Lok Sabha would represent the true essence of a democracy.
- The executive head of the company is one of those who has been directly elected by the people to the Lok Sabha.
- The PM will represent the will of the people as he has been represented or voted by the people.
- PM should have political guile and not only intellectual knowledge to serve well. He should also have the knowledge about the people’s well being.
- PM nominated by the people or Lok Sabha is less susceptible to manipulation as compared to someone voted to the Rajya Sabha.
- Lok Sabha elects or votes PM on the basis of his/her performance and his/her competence to take the country to a next level.
Against
- PM is a post which not only requires expertise and great insight but also a great deal of education.
- Electing PM only from Lok Sabha would mean restricting the prospective candidates.
- Rajya Sabha is considered as a talent pool where competent candidates are sent after consideration.
- Any person who is competent, dedicated and would work according to the ideologies of a party is relevant for the post of PM, irrelevant of the house he belongs to i.e. Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
