President signs the Lokpal Bill, soon to become law

President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to Lokpal bill on Wednesday, Jan 1, 2014. Now the bill will be signed by the secretary of the legislative department in the law ministry and then will be sent for publication in the official gazette. The bill will then become law.

The Lokpal can supervise CBI investigations into specific case. It can also initiate investigations on the basis of specific complaints.

Prime Minister, Ministers and senior public servants also fall under the ambit of Lokpal.
