Reliance Telecom Operator Inks Pact With Ericsson
Swedish telecom gear company Ericsson has secured a pan-India network of telecom operator Reliance Communications as part of a 7 year agreement signed between the two firms.
Strategic Partnership
“We are excited to partner with Reliance Communications for this strategic multi-technology managed services deal. We have been managing their networks in North and West and are now pleased to extend this support to all 22 circles,” Ericsson Executive Vice President and Head of Business Unit (Global Services) Magnus Mandersson said in an official statement.
As part of the agreement, Ericsson will take over the responsibility for field maintenance as well as network operations and operational planning of Reliance Communications’ CDMA, 2G and 3G mobile networks. The financial details of the deal were not revealed. “We are happy to announce our partnership with Ericsson to manage our wire line and wireless network on a pan-India basis,” Reliance Communications’ Head of Commercial Suresh Rangachar has commented
The agreement also comprises operation as well as management of Reliance Communications’ wire link network by Ericsson.
Features of the network and deal
This is the first pan India managed services deal for Ericsson. This covers around 150,000 km of finer, 2G/3G/CDMA mobile network wireline access and enterprise network in as many as 22 telecom circles spanning major metro cities such as Delhi and Mumbai. This deal also marks the use of international expertise in operational efficiency as well as optimisation.
Expansion of an existing agreement
This strategic deal spanning India is an expansion of an existing agreement whereby Ericsson seeks to expand its managed services footprint and its partnership with Reliance Communication. Ericsson will also be responsible for streamlining Reliance Communication’s operations through integration of all aspects of fibre, mobile networks and wireline access networks to the Reliance Communications wireless and Global Enterprise Business spanning different product lines.
Using a Centralised Network Operations Centre, Ericsson will deliver international customer experience bringing in operational efficiency and optimisation through its global expertise.
It will manage network operations with the aim of increasing customer satisfaction as well as retention. This firm will work closely with Reliance Communications for identifying opportunities for the introduction of new services and expansion of existing businesses to realise complete potential of the network.
