They say, life isn’t always a bed of roses. Well, not of thorns as well. There are challenges to win and this is a tough one indeed. But for a tough man that I’ve known you to be, I believe you can overcome each of them with the mental strength and liveliness that you happen to be naturally gifted with.
Dear Mark, don’t worry about anything and just stick to what the doctor’s instructions. All else will be taken due care of by your friends and family. I’m always a phone call away for anything you need or if you just need someone to talk to at any hour of the day. The good part is that the disease has been diagnosed early enough to be treated and come out fit as a fiddle.
All you have to do now is take good care of yourself in every possible way. That’s I care about as a good friend of yours and so should you. Please don’t think twice before asking for any monetary help, if ever you feel the need. What are friends for?
I’m sure you’d get well real soon with kind of love and support you have from your family. It’s a trying time for them too, especially Margaret. But I know she’s a strong woman at heart and will sail you through this time.

It was a big shock for me to hear your illness. That was totally unexpected news to know you are diagnosed for cancer. I came to know just now, when I gave a ring to your father to check for their well-being. Aunty was at her worst in narrating your health condition.
I am very sorry for not being with you at this time. It needs a lot of courage to accept the truth and face the situation. I am sure you are bold enough to handle this carefully. I will apply for the leaves and stay there with you for some time. We can spend some quality time and remember our good old childhood days. I am on the way to your parent’s place. You don’t worry for them. I’ll take care of them, and get them along with me while coming to meet you.
Try to concentrate on something / the work that you love to do. This could divert your attention and help you overcome from this jerk. You enjoy light music and painting; why don’t you start some painting classes for kids. Time flies too fast managing small children and you would love this work.
You have never informed me of your deteriorating health condition. I have heard that there is evident weight loss in cancer patients. But I didn’t find any change is your body strength during my last visit in summer. If I could’ve sensed anything wrong, I would have definitely nagged you to get your general check-up done; and would have brought you back to Mumbai with me.
I will also apply for transfer along with my leaves. My best friend means a lot to me than anything else. Send me all your investigation reports on email and I will check for the best cancer hospitals and take second opinion here as well. I will not leave any stone unturned; my only mission to get you out of this pit.
I could still not digest the fact. I completely understand how difficult it is for you. But please don’t worry, you are not alone. Your parents are living for you; I am there to help you at any and every step of life.
