I would like to file my Income Tax Return for the fiscal years 2012-2013. This is due to the fact that I have paid income tax much more than is applicable for me. My annual income is 6.6 lacs. I have paid the income tax of Rs 1, 10,000 though the amount that was due from my end was Rs 89,000/-
I am attaching my Form 16 B for your reference and I request you to kindly refund the extra amount of Rs 21,000/- paid by me.
Kindly let me know in case I need to provide any other documents. The cheque for the amount of Rs 21,000/- may kindly be send on my residential address as mentioned in the form.

Sample letter for Income tax Refund
For the assessment year 2012-2013, I request a refund of the excessive amount I paid as income tax. I paid the income tax in advance and therefore paid an extra amount of (state the extra mount you paid). I, therefore file for an income tax return.
Being a responsible citizen of the country, I believe in paying the income tax in advance so that no delay and charges are applied. For this assessment year, I paid an amount of Rs. XXXXXX on the (date).
The aforesaid amount as per my recent calculation comes to be excessive since the taxable income of the year was Rs XXXXXXX only.
I have enclosed documents in support of my statement. They are accurate to the best of my knowledge and I therefore believe that I am liable to get a refund of the extra amount that I paid as income tax.
I have attached the income tax refund application form along with this letter where I have specified the amount that I expect to get back as refund.
