Impressive Medal Victories For Indian Stars In Asian Games: Sania Wins Mixed Doubles
Tennis ace Sania Mirza has teamed up with Saketh Myneni to win the gold medal in the mixed doubles even as Indian strong-woman Seema Punia won a gold medal for the nation at the 10th day of the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon. India now stands 9th in the overall position with respect to the number of wins.
Indian wrestler Bajrang as well as the men's pair of Sanam Singh and Saketh Myneni won silver medals as well. Bronze medals were won by athletes O. P. Jaisha and Naveen Kumar as well as wrestler Narsingh Pancham Yadav. It was a major achievement for 27 year old Sania to win the match for what is the third time now.
Sania and Saketh were an unbeatable combination for the Chinese Taipei set of Hsien Yin Peng and Hao Ching Chan. The second seeded Indian players won 6-4.6-3 against their rivals to clinch the gold medal at the mixed doubles final in Asian Games at Incheon. The Indians took a total of 69 minutes to win the game. India scored a tally of 5 medals in tennis. Sanam had to be content with silver at the men's final this year. Last year, he won the gold medal with Somdev Devvarman at the 2010 Guangzhou Games.
India had also won 5 medals in tennis at the 2010 games. Even in the absence of stalwart tennis players such as Rohan Bopanna, India put up a good performance and many of the youngsters have done wonders for Indian prospects at the Asian Games. Yuki Bhambri garnered two bronze medals, one in the men's singles and doubles with Divij Sharan. Sania Mirza and Pratharna Thombare won the bronze medal in the women's double. Sania now has a grand total of 8 Asian Games medals.
Adding 7 medals to the final tally, Indians stood at the ninth position with a complete tally of 42 medals so far on the 10th day of the games. This includes 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 29 bronze medals. China is currently at the numero uno position with a tally of 238 followed by South Korea(146) and Japan (132).

It was a good day for Indian kabbadi as the men's team which has won all 5 world cups till now surged ahead in to another win. The women's team have also started on a winning note.
